When I visited New Orleans last week, I was inspired by these unique balconies in the French Quarter!

ORNATE WROUGHT IRON PAIRED WITH SOME SASSY CRYSTAL COULD MAKE FOR SOME OLD-WORLD GLAM!

Custom rug design in the works!

A custom rug is so fun. Seriously one of a kind. We create the design, we pick the poms of yarn for color, a detailed rendering is drawn and painted by Richard at Aubry Angelo, and then the hard part... The wait while someone hand tufts the entire piece. It will be so worth it once it reaches its fab loft space in the Harvester Building.

Is it really working?!?

The sun is OUT, but it's still a little chilly. So here's a hearty helping of a few more tropical photos from Old San Juan. We might be onto something here...

Sure, MN has its perks, but one of them is not VIVID COLOR in architecture...
Or age-old tile mosaics... I liked the way the stranger in the shirt beyond coordinated with the detail...

Shades of beige? No way?

Scale and proportion! Get a load of the doors and the GREEN lantern (I guess it's all relative compared to my pint sized friend, Amy B, graphic designer extraordinaire...)

I'm not an incense fan, but the color of this display certainly caught my eye...
During our explorations strolled through a little square and I found these two ladies engrossed in a Spanish conversation I couldn't comprehend... How cute are they?!?
They undoubtedly made me think someday that will be me and my pal... A little older and slightly more wrinkled... Ah well, get out there and enjoy that SUN!

Sunny Inspiration...

I'm such a Minnesotan... talkin', talkin', talkin' about the weather... I've decided to post a warm-weather-inspirational-photo from my sunny Puerto Rican getaway everyday until MN Mother Nature decides to play fair...

Today, my favorite photo from the trip. I may have actually used my SLR camera to it's full potential this time... More tomorrow!

Erika Ritzel Photography...

I love her photography. Kitchy-cool in a quirky Anthropologie-sort-a-way. Where else does Playboy live in Harmony with grannies dusty doilies?!? This is from her SOLD series of photos from estate sales and the like.

I bought this photo at the MCAD art sale last year and framed it in a simple, laquered white frame. It currently resides at my studio in my currently artistic (translation: messy) office. From her HOME series. My grandma had that EXACT same applique table cloth with the buttery yellow pear... I'm slightly nostalgic... and a sucker for anything pink...

The anatomy of a Kravet chair...

Today I'm learning the "ins and outs," literally of how a quality, bench-made piece if furniture is constructed. Stick with me and I'll show you the ropes!

Oh, and her royal highness....

Sporting her spaghetti and meatball hat. You guessed it yarn noodles and pine cones wrapped with pipe cleaners as the meatballs. I mean, who's having more fun? Me or her?!?

Fun!!!

How cute is she?!?!

My Art Buddy, Abigail... We made hamburgers out of fabric and leather fir her Queen of Cooking costume. They just don't come and cuter...

Look mom... A clean desk!

It's been weeks, maybe months, fine... almost a year since I've seen the top of my design station.

Mon-o-gram!

Spring has this way of making me want to color coordinate my closet, organize my jewelry and purge fall and winter makeup (a new tube of mascara makes my day!). In pursuit of a fresh spring start, I also opted for a new basket of bath towels in every shape and size. The splurge... 800 thread count and my favorite thread color for monogramming. Talk about an instant bath remodel!

An idea from abroad...

A client recently returned from Scotland and was enamoured with this woolen mill who makes all sorts of wool fabulousness. We are currently having 12 metres of a beautiful wool tweed made specifically for us. Once it reaches our hands stateside it will be used for upholstery on a perfectly tailored arm chair and ottoman. Talk about a customized chair!

Update your Ben Moore fan deck...

If I was the Benjamin Moore "color namer girl" I would change the name of 1329 Drop Dead Gorgeous to Organic Radish...
